Kwara State Government has announced a temporary road closure on the Challenge Junction to Post Office stretch in Ilorin, effective Sunday, 3 August 2025, as part of infrastructure upgrades to global standards.

The directive, issued by the Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), aims to alleviate chronic traffic congestion and reduce wasted time caused by gridlock in the metropolis. KWARTMA Spokesperson Olawuyi Gani Olalekan outlined revised routes:

Motorists from Ajase Ipo Road: Divert via Police Road -> Office Road to Post Office Roundabout

Traffic from Oja Oba: Proceed along Muritala Mohammed Way -> Unity Junction to Ajase Ipo Road

Vehicles from Unity Road: Use Ilofa Road -> Office Road to Post Office Roundabout

KWARTMA urged strict adherence to diversions, stating: "This short term disruption will deliver long term relief. Cooperation with traffic officials is essential for smoother commutes citywide."
