Ilorin Durbar Documentary Teaser Sparks Social Media Trend, Aims for Global Recognition
The hashtag #DurbarIsIlorin has trended on X (formerly Twitter) as Nigeria's second most popular topic following the release of a teaser trailer by the Kwara Sugar Factory Film Studio for its 2024 Ilorin Durbar documentary.
The trend surged alongside mentions of the Sugar Factory Film Studio, a flagship project of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration. The documentary, produced to highlight the cultural splendour of the Ilorin Durbar-a vibrant annual horse-riding festival-will be released shortly.
The event, revitalised and institutionalised by the governor's administration, is a key cultural celebration led by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
This follows a meeting between Durbar Committee Chairman Mr. Sulaiman Yahya Alapansapa and Nigeria's Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hanatu Musawa, to finalise plans for the upcoming festival in Ilorin, the state capital.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had earlier announced the studio's mandate to produce the documentary to elevate the Ilorin Durbar's global profile.
