300 Teachers Get Appointment Letters in Kwara - Daibu

Date: 2013-02-06

The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Monday issued teaching appointment letters to 300 youths.

They are participating in the Kwara Bridge Empowerment Scheme (KWABES), the Chairman of Kwara SUBEB, Mr Lanre Daibu, said.

Daibu, who presented the letters to the new employees, said the development was in line with the state government’s objectives.

According to him, the measure is designed to reduce the rate of unemployment in the state and build a better future for the Kwara youths.

"You are not only employed to teach, but to be mentors to the children and guide them with advice," he said.

Daibu urged them to show discipline and commitment to their work.

He said the board would organise seminars and training workshops to further improve their skills.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on KWABES, Alhaji Saka Babatunde, warned the newly employed to pledge their loyalty to SUBEB and to avoid laziness.

He urged them to be true to the saying: "Teachers are to lead by example."

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Sunday Adewumi, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said they would be agents of transformation in the state. (NAN)
