2,180 Kwara Pilgrims Ready for Hajj as Final Payments Process Nears Completion
Approximately 2,180 Muslim pilgrims from Kwara State are set to undertake this year's Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
As of the time of writing, 2,150 intending pilgrims have fully paid their Hajj fees, while about 30 remain pending. Alhaji AbdulSalam AbdulKadir, Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the figures, stating that fewer than 30 individuals had yet to complete payment.
The pilgrims will be flown to Saudi Arabia by Max Air, with departures commencing from mid-May 2025.
AbdulKadir also announced a formal awareness session featuring experienced Islamic scholars will be held on Sunday at the board's Ilorin office the state capital to provide pilgrims with essential guidelines.
Separately, the state government has urged intending pilgrims to uphold Kwara's reputation as goodwill ambassadors during their time in the holy land.
The secretary to the state government, Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril, who gave the charge, reminded the pilgrims that the journey is a spiritual obligation, not a tourist expedition.
He spoke during a sensitisation programme and prayer session organised by the Pilgrims Welfare Board in Ilorin for pilgrims.
Represented by the permanent secretary, General Services at the Governor's Office, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Shuaib, Jibril emphasised the need for the pilgrims to conduct themselves as responsible citizens of Kwara and Nigeria during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
