Senator Saliu Mustapha Calls for Inclusion of Retired Permanent Secretaries in Governance
The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Saliu Mustapha, has called for the inclusion of retired permanent secretaries in governance and policy-making processes, as reported by Punch.
Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Kwara chapter, in Ilorin on Friday, Mustapha emphasised the need to utilise the "invaluable experience and wisdom of the seasoned administrators," describing them as "pillars upon which Nigeria has stood."
Mustapha, who was represented by a retired permanent secretary, Kale Yusuf, highlighted the significant role these experienced administrators could play in addressing Nigeria's challenges.
Appreciating the retired PS, Mustapha said, “Retirement for individuals of your caliber is not the end of service but the beginning of a new phase.
“You were the silent architects of governance, translating policies into actionable programs and ensuring the smooth functioning of our administrative systems. Your insights, now unencumbered by the pressures of office, are invaluable for nation-building.”
In his contribution, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, emphasised the pivotal role of permanent secretaries in policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation.
