Kwara Diagnostic Centre Receives Cases from UITH
The aim of the Kwara state government to reduce medical tourism and capital flights from Nigeria may have started yielding results as the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) had started referring cases to the newly commissioned Kwara Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin.
The Centre, which was built by the state government and commissioned by Vice President Nmadi Sambo on November 16, 2012, according to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, would be managed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, dismissed insinuations in some quarters that people had not been visiting the Centre "because they do not have confidence in the facilities installed at the Centre."
"I can tell you a lot of cases have been referred from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital back to diagnostic centre already ,yes we have done that," he said.
He said the Centre was not like other hospital that witnessed influx of people, saying it was meant for special cases that could not be handled in other hospitals.
Moronfoye, who said the Centre was equipped with recent state-of-the-art facilities in modern medicines, said it would require time for people to get accustom to its use.
