Kwara Assembly Wants IBEDC Investigated for Alleged Poor Services, Unwholesome Practices
Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the state Ministry of Energy to investigate complaints of poor service delivery against the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, and curb the extortionist tendencies of the company's staff.
In a resolution passed on Tuesday at plenary, the legislature said the investigation would afford Kwarans the opportunity to lay bare their complaints and grievances, while also engaging the management of IBEDC to make due clarifications on the complaints against the company.
The House further urged the management of the electricity distribution company to ensure that good pre-paid meters were provided for electricity consumers in Kwara State and stop estimated billings without further delay.

It further directed the House committee on energy to interface with the management of IBEDC in the state with a view to curbing the arbitrary billing system and all other connected matters for effective service delivery.
Leading the debate, Ganiyu Folabi Salau, who moved the motion, expressed concern that despite the silence of Kwarans on the poor metering system and unwholesome practices of IBEDC officers, Kwarans have been subjected to perpetual blackout of recent, which had invariably shortchanged them from enjoying the services they paid for.
