The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), on Monday tasked the State Government with the establishment of Kwara State University of Science and Technology in Ilorin the State capital.

TAliyu Otta-Uthman, the president of the Union gave the call in his address presented at the opening ceremony of the 58th National Conference of the Union held at the Forecourt of the Emir's Palace in Ilorin.

TEstablishment of such school according to him would serve as a training institution where some of “our gifted and talented indigenes can develop their inventive acumen and get certified for the needed technological and and economic development of not only our state but of the nation in general”.

TUthman had while acknowledging the State Government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his giant strides in the education sector, appealed to the Government to site the proposed Kwara State University of Education within Ilorin metropolis.

TIn his remarks, the Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq promised renewal expansion for Ilorin as the State capital to prevent it from becoming a slum.

THe urged the leadership of IEDPU and the entire people of Ilorin Emirate to key into the Government policies aimed at making the state a better place for all to live.
