Oloriegbe Mourns Imam Shaban's Death, Describes Late Scholar As Humility Personified
The immediate past Kwara Central Senator, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has commiserated with the family, associates, and students of the Late founder of Muhyideen College of Education, Ilorin, Shaykh Abdullahi Jubril Imam Sha'ban, over the death of the Islamic scholar whose demise was announced yesterday evening.
Oloriegbe in his condolence message extolled the virtues of the deceased cleric who pioneered the establishment of private Colleges of Education in Ilorin, whilst describing him as a humility personified.
"It is with great shock that I am joining the Muslim Ummah, Ilorin Emirate Community, and Adabiyyah family to mourn the passage of a reputable scholar, an embodiment of knowledge, and humility personified, our father, Shaykh Abdullahi Jubril Imam Sha'ban who transited on his last journey yesterday at the age of 83.
"Baba Imam Sha'ban was no doubt a celebrated icon who contributed immensely to the propagation of Islam, and the development of Islamic and Western education in Ilorin and Kwara State as a whole with the establishment of Muhyideen College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Kulende; Imam Sha'ban College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Idi-Orombo; and Muhyideen College of Educations, Kulende, which are citadels of learning that have molded innumerable numbers of scholars in various human endeavors.
"He was such a reserved cleric, highly focused on his callings without the quest for any inordinate clout chasing. Very unassuming, spartanly, and dutiful despite all that he was endowed with. We have no doubt lost another shining light in our community, albeit, we are taking solace in the exemplary life he lived.
"As we mourned his glorious exit from the world, we must take lessons from his selflessness and the abiding legacies he left behind as a preacher, leader, and teacher. I pray to almighty Allah to forgive him all his transgressions whilst rewarding his good deeds with Janatul-Firdaous as we also pray to Allah to abide with all that he left behind. Ameen."
