8 Killed As Truck, Bus Collide In Kwara

Eight persons have reportedly been killed in the Oke Onigbin area on the Omu-Aran-Ilorin road in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State following a collision between a Mack trailer and a Mitsubishi bus.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Stephen Dawulung, who confirmed the accident on Saturday evening, said, “The accident occurred around 7:40pm on Friday evening, but preliminary investigation revealed that the Mitsubishi space wagon (en route to Ilorin) while overtaking a bus, collided with an oncoming Mack trailer. It resulted in the death of eight persons on the spot: 1one male adult, three female adults and four children; while six others sustained injuries.”

He noted that the injured victims were conveyed to the Ajisafe Hospital, Omu Aran, while the eight corpses were deposited at the mortuary of the Adeyemo Hospital, Omu Aran.

He admonished drivers to avoid night journey, speed and ensure they took a rest for at least 30 minutes after every four hours of driving.
