US-based History Professor Toyin Falola to deliver UNILORIN's 37th, 38th convocation lecture
The management of University of Ilorin has released programmes lined-up for the 37th and 38th convocation ceremonies to commence with special jumat service on Friday 13th October 2023.
Daily SUN gathered that other activities include; interdenomitional church service, procession rehearsal, convocation drama while Professor Toyin Falola of the department of History at the University of Texas, Austin, United States of America, (USA) will deliver the convocation lecture on Friday 20th October 2023 with the topic: “Modernity, Modernisation and Values” scheduled to hold at the University's Auditorium by 9.45am.
Convocation proper and award of certificates, degrees, prizes and postgraduates programmes starts on Friday 20th October to Monday 23rd October 2023 while the entire programmes end with special jumat service and thanksgiving Church service on 27th and 29th October 2023 respectively. Similarly, in another development of the Better-by-far stuff they are made of, members of the UNILORIN Quiz and Debate Club have again done the University proud by emerging Champions in another international tournament held last weekend.
The Unilorites picked up the trophy in the English-as-Second-Language category of the Western IV International Online Competition in which students from 27 countries and 69 universities across the globe participated.
The University was represented by the formidable duo of Alex Olafisoye and Owolabi Victor of the Faculties of Education and Law, respectively.
Also, two University of Ilorin students, Davida Paul and Ogundare Taye Tobi were on the Core Adjudication Panel as Chief Adjudicator and Deputy Chief Adjudicator, respectively.
In his reaction to this new feat, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, said: “This great feat is a testimony to the extraordinary support by the University authority for Unilorin Quiz and Debate Committee to excel across all Debating Competitions in which the students participate.”
