Abdulrazaq Swears in 2023 Batch 'B' (Stream II) Corps Members
Kwara state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today swore in 2023 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), with a charge to justify the confidence reposed in them as leaders of tomorrow by making patriotism, discipline among other virtues their watchword always.
AbdulRazaq recalled that the NYSC was established to play a key role in the drive towards the achievement of national integration and building of a cohesive Nigeria.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, Governor AbdulRazaq thanked the Federal Government and the NYSC Management for their continuous efforts in sustaining the noble scheme. He added that the scheme has afforded the educated Nigerian Youth a golden opportunity to productively channel their skills and intellects towards national development.
'Therefore, the onus now rests on you to be physically, psychologically and socially ready to face the rigours and challenges of nation building as full fledge adult Nigerians, who are well imbued with the attributes of good citizenship, patriotism and discipline through the various training you will be exposed to in the course of this 3-week orientation exercise' he said.
'I enjoin you to always present yourselves as worthy ambassadors of your various families and indeed the NYSC scheme by exhibiting the sterling qualities of 'Service and Humility', which is the motto of the NYSC' he added.
The Governor noted that his administration has been giving adequate support and assistance to the management of NYSC in executing all its programmes in the state. Also by making life conducive for the corp members and ensuring adequate security on camp. He added that this administration recently commenced the perimeter fencing of the orientation camp.
He further pledged the continous support to the welfare and security of corps members currently serving and newly deployed to Kwara State for their national service.
In his introductory address, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Onifade Olaoluwa congratulated the newly inducted corps members urging them to participate fully in the programs including para-military drills, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program, citizenship and leadership training among others.
