Kwara community to sack unidentified visitors to check insecurity
Isanlu-Isin community in Isin Local Government of Kwara State has redesigned its security architecture in the wake of last week's abduction of four indigenes of the community.
Last Thursday, four locals were abducted from the town but were released on Saturday during a search and rescue operation by police tactical teams, hunters, and vigilantes led by the state Commissioner of Police, Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi.
To prevent the re-occurrence of the security breaches the traditional council, Isanlu Isin Development Association, and critical stakeholders have taken some urgent security measures.
DAILY POST reports that the local hunters and vigilantes were made to renew their pledges and oath of allegiance to ensure that bad eggs or sellouts amongst them are dealt with, as the recent breaches were linked to a lack of cohesion and dissension.
A statement by Jacob Ayanda, National Publicity Secretary of Isanlu-Isin Development Association, said, going forward, all security outfits in the town will now be coordinated by the Oluode to ensure unity of purpose.
It said a new security patrol vehicle has also been purchased and will soon be put to use to patrol all roads leading to Isanlu-Isin.
The statement further warned that any stranger not properly identified will be shown the way out of the town, insisting that all recognized groups residing in the town must be properly registered.
It explained that all non-indigenes are now to wear specially designed identity cards while all strangers, wanderers occupying all land surrounding Isanlu Isin illegally, will no longer be tolerated.
The statement assured all indigenes and non-indigenes alike of safety whenever they enter and leave Isanlu-Isin.
The traditional ruler of the town, Oba Solomon Oloyede, the Olusin of Isanlu Isin and Chairman Isin Traditional Council assured that more security measures are on the way and ongoing.
He begged those with genuine business interests in the town not to be discouraged by the recent insecurity.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police has directed a 24-hour patrol and surveillance of Isanlu-Isin, Ijara-Isin roads by the police force.
