NSCDC arrests six suspected rail track vandals in Kwara
Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday arrested six suspects with two 14-tyre DAF trucks fully loaded with railway slippers at Olooru in the Moro local government area of the state.
Parading the suspects in Ilorin on Wednesday, the state Commandant of the Corps, Umar Mohammed, said that the suspects were apprehended at about 12:00am on Wednesday by the personnel who were on night patrol.
“The six suspects: Yunusa Bello (41), Sanni Taminu (35), Sanusi Lawal (25), Alhaji Makeri (33), Lukman Sanni (32), and Olabode Johnson (41) were all arrested with the items”, he said.
The state commandant, who warned those who engage in vandalising national critical assets and infrastructures to desist from that or prepare to face the consequences, adding that the command would not tolerate any act of vandalisation in the state.
In another development, the commandant also paraded another suspect, Babatunde Adekunle (41), who was arrested for ATM fraud.
“Babatunde was alleged to have fraudulently swapped his ATM card with an old man at one of the ATM points in a bank. Having swapped the card, he allegedly withdrew the sum of One million, eight hundred thousands naira from the account.
“The case was reported, and the commandant mandated the tracking unit to arrest him within the shortest time.
“Commandant Umar appreciates the state government, the traditional rulers and the good people of Kwara state for their support and cooperation.
“He assured the public that the command will continue to work with other sister agencies so as to ensure safety of lives and property of Kwarans and Nigerians as a whole”.
