PDP Warns ACN Not to Turn Kwara to Battle Ground
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has warned the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the State not to turn Kwara State, known as the State of Harmony, in to a battle field for political thuggery.
In an apparent reaction to a reported free-for-all by supporters of the ACN over the weekend as a result of battle for supremacy between the National Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Lai Mohammed and the party's gubernatorial flag bearer in Kwara State in the 2011 election, Dele Belgore, SAN, PDP wondered why a party's registration exercise would turn into gun wielding and sporadic shooting as if guns are akin to party membership cards.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe, PDP said that it is now more than ever obvious to the good people of the State that the ACN in the Kwara is a party of thugs and does not mean well for the State.
"Why should a simple democratic process lead to violence and political terrorism?" PDP wondered. PDP cautioned ACN members not to defile the subsisting peace in Kwara as the State is reputed as a State of Harmony.
"Kwara does not need the distraction that the ACN it trying to foist on it", Adebimpe admonished.
As a party that believes and uphold democratic norms, we condenmened in its entirety the ACN recent violence in the state been promoted by the gladiators in their quest for 2015 gubernatorial ticket which has now taken ethnic dimension.
However, the PDP in Kwara was not surprised by the unfortunate drama ACN staged over the weekend as it was another manifestation that the ACN in Kwara is peopled by desperate elements that would do anything un holly in the struggle for power.
The ACN has shown, through the weekend show of shame and for the umpteenth time that it is a party of non-democrats, who is on a wild goose chase. Kwara is PDP and PDP is Kwara.
It is on record that the PDP governments in Kwara State since 2003 have succeeded in benchmarking excellence in governance and it has become a reference point for positive changes in the country.
