Date: 2021-11-25

The National Youth Service Corps has deployed 1,900 prospective corps members to Kwara State for the 2021 Batch 'C', Stream II orientation course.

A statement by Dipo Morakinyo, NYSC Spokesman in Kwara State, on Tuesday confirmed the development.

Morakinyo said the orientation course would commence on November 24 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.

Participants in the 21-day exercise are expected to arrive at the camp from Wednesday for registration, which will close on November 27.

The State Coordinator, Francisca Olaleye, was quoted in the statement as expressing the readiness of the NYSC management to run a hitch-free orientation in the state.

According to Olaleye, all the collaborating agencies have been adequately mobilised for the exercise and they have assured of their continuous support.

She said: "The Army is always ready for us with their personnel, the Police will be with us as usual, to secure the camp and its environment, both the State ministry of health and NCDC are ready for us.

"It's a national programme and just as we have been doing together in the time past, we are ready to synergies with these critical stakeholders to achieve, yet another successful orientation exercise."

Olaleye urged the general public, especially the people of Kwara State, to accord the prospective corps members warm reception as they come to the state for the exercise.

"All the major car parks in the state and their commuters have been sensitised in readiness to host the newly deployed corps members," she said.

According to her, the corps members will be sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state on November 27.

She said the orientation camp had been put in good shape to provide minimum comfort for the participants, adding that it had been fumigated to prevent wild insects during the exercise.

"There will be full compliance with the COVID-19 protocols during the orientation exercise," she said.

Olaleye said the officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control would be on ground at the camp to screen all the participants, camp officials, and everyone that would be visiting the camp for COVID-19.

"The management of NYSC wishes all the prospective corps members journey mercy as they travel to their respective camps and strictly warned them to avoid night travels," the Coordinator said.
