Kwara to Clamp Down on Hoodlums
Kwara State Government has directed security agencies to apprehend and prosecute anyone found disrupting the peace or engaging in violent activities in the state.
It said, this directive followed cases of lawlessness, particularly the attacks on construction workers and clashes among hoodlums in the state last week.
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, on Sunday, the government said it could no longer condone any act of lawlessness and disorder under any guise.
It, therefore, called on parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to abide by the law as government would apprehend and prosecute any one found disrupting public peace.
The statement further assured the citizenry that the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on any one who harasses innocent citizens or causes public disorder in any part of the state.
It read, "Security agencies have been directed to prosecute those already apprehended, while their accomplices should be pursued with a view to arresting and prosecuting them without further delay.
“Government, therefore, assures the law abiding citizens to go about their normal businesses without any fear of molestation or intimidation."
