Kwara NUJ Secretariat to be Completed Soon
The on-going construction of Kwara State Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)'s secretariat located along Offa road Ilorin has reached 80 per cent completion even as the project is expected to be completed by next month.
The contractor handling the project, Alhaji Kazeem Mustapha disclosed this last Tuesday during a telephone interview with the newsmen and expressed confidence that the project would not take him more than a month to complete if government mobilizes him accordingly.
Mustapha who is the Managing Director of Ilorin-based 'Rykkaz Integrated Network Limited' disclosed further that all major components of the project had been put in place, including wiring, wardrobe, ceiling, plastering and others.
According to him, what left undone are perimeter fence and landscaping and said "by the time we are adequately mobilized, the project will be completed and handed over to the government next month."
The contractor therefore thanked the government for mobilizing him up to that level and promised to justify the confidence reposed on him by the present administration in the state, saying that his company was known for standard and promised that justice would be done to the project.
Also speaking with the newsmen on the project, the Chairman of NUJ of Kwara State Council, Mallam Abiodun Abdulkareem commended the state Government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for the approval of the construction of a befitting secretariat for the men of the pen profession in the state.
Abdulkareem who expressed delight over the level of work done on the project, said that journalists in the state would continue to remember his administration for this wonderful gesture which he said would remain evergreen in the minds of the pen pushers in the state and beyond.
The Chairman therefore appealed to the government to kindly redeem its pledge on the prompt completion of the project in the interest of growth and development of balanced and adequate dissemination of information.
