Kwara FA Meets Stakeholders: Deliberate on Key Issues affecting Football

The Kwara state football association held its first meeting in the event of Covid-19 in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday, chaired by Malam Idris Musa Abdullahi.

Opening the meeting which was held in full compliance of Covid-19 Precautionary Measures, Malam Musa started by Eeulogising the number citizen of Kwara, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for his continuous contribution to football development and reaffirmed his commitments towards piloting the affairs of the association according to the ethics of football administration and urge all concerned parties to follow suit.

Key discussions included the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) decision to terminate all domestic competitions particularly the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) using the point per game (PPG) factor amongst other development in regards to directives from the Amaju Pinnick Led board of the NFF.

The chairman in a strong words, noted all football activities in the state remain suspended till the leadership of the NFF says otherwise and called all local council chairmen to take charge of their various communities.

During the discussions on how clubs in the state can improve and tightened their grip in the nearest future (Post Covid), Malam Musa explained with an overview of NFF Roadmap to Reform, which focuses on financial management, good governance, efficient and professional organisations, growth and development of football.

He thanked all concerned parties for their commitment to elevating Kwara football to the highest levels and restated the need to continue to practice National Health Authorities guidelines. These sentiments were strongly echoed by all protocols on ground.

At the end of the meeting, concerned stakeholders were invited to advise and offer proposals on how to strategically develop football in Kwara.

During his address, FIFA & CAF Instructor, Emmanuel Dada Obafemi re-emphasized the unique role football plays in the society, hence the urgent need for all stakeholders to adopt scientific approach to tackle peculiar issues.

Representatives of Kwara united FC, ABSIlorin FC, Moje Queens FC, Kwara Ladies, Gidado FC, Players Union, Coaches Union, Referees Council and other notable bodies, also raised sensitive issues with regards to clarification of events from the NFF.

An agreement in principle was reached by stakeholders to Foster unity and understanding which will further enhance football development the state.

Top personalities present includes Alh. Lanre Jaji, SA Fowomola, TA Ahmed, Alh. Wopa Agbaji, Coach Tunde Sanni, Bashir Badawir, Swan representatives and other members from the sixteen local government football council.
