COVID-19: Over 6000 Residents Receive Kwara Govt Palliative in Oke-Ero

No fewer that 6000 residents of Oke-ero local government area on Wednesday received Kwara state government palliative to cushion effects of lockdown amidst ravaging COVID-19.

Kwara COVID-19 Palliative Committee delivered N19,200,000 to 10 wards in Oke-ero LG and N800,000 for logistics of committees at the ward level/LOC.

The beneficiaries of the palliative include the aged, physical challenged, widows, artisans and other vulnerable persons identified by various communities. The state government monetised palliative for Oke-ero and some LGs after due consultations with stakeholders.

As of today 15 out 16 local government areas of the state have received palliative items aimed at easing burden of the citizens after declaration of lockdown to curtail coronavirus spread. Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Ilorin East, Asa, Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun LGs received food items containing rice, semovita, vegetable oil, noodles, sugar and salt as palliative while Patigi, Edu, Kaiama, Baruten, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-ero get money.

Only Moro LG in Kwara North Senatorial district is yet to receive their palliative to logistics and organization challenge in the council.

The Alofa of Ilofa and other traditional rulers in Oke-ero local government thanked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for giving their subjects palliative.

Also speaking, the head of Iyalojas in the local government commended the state government and COVID-19 Palliative committee for considering their offer of monetizing the palliative, noting it will boost their economic activities amidst lockdown.
