ICPC secures 12-year jail term for Kwara poly governing board ex-chair

Date: 2020-02-06

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) said it had secured a 12-year jail term for a former Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr. Saadu Alanamu.

The ICPC spokesperson, Rasheedat Okoduwa, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, disclosed that a Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, upheld the judgment of a High Court, which handed down the jail term.

Alanamu had approached the appellate court urging it to quash the judgment of the trial court.

But according to Okoduwa, having listened to the arguments from both the prosecution and the defence counsel, the Court of Appeal upheld the judgment of the lower court and dismissed Alanamu's appeal for lack of merit.
