A 30-year old man, Tabiam Hinjibola of Kamogu Village via Kaiama, Kwara State, has been remanded at the Federal Prisons, Oke-Kura Ilorin over an alleged murder.

Hinjibola was dragged to court on a one count charge of culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of penal code law.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that a complainant, Mr. Mohammed Mofure of Kanji via Mushi Gada area sometime in September, reported at Kaiama Police Division that his two children, Aishat Mohammed and Buba Mohammed Mofure went in company of others to wash plates at a river, where the accused allegedly macheted the victim.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly went to the stream, armed with cutlass, which he used to hit Buba on his head and neck, as result of which the victim died.

It stated further that police investigation at the state CID Ilorin, revealed that the accused is a notorious criminal who terrorizes young people for ritual purposes within Mushi Gada and its environ.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Alhassan Jubril, prayed the court to remand the alleged killer in prison custody pending the outcome of police investigation.

Ruling, Magistrate M.B Ahmed, who presided over the case, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal prisons Oke-Kura, Ilorin and adjourned the matter till October 11, 2012 for further mention.
