Kwara State to prioritise sports

The Kwara State government has pledged to give priority to sports, to maximise the potentials.

The State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi made the promise on Friday while speaking with sportswriters shortly after inspecting the venues of the 5th National Youth Games going on at the University of Ilorin.

"Sports is one of the ways to take people out of poverty and ensure economic development for individuals and the Nation," Mr Alabi said.

Unifying factor

The Deputy Governor described sports as 'a unifying factor that unite Nigerians' and thanked the University of Ilorin for supporting Youth Sports.

He promised that Government would fix the State indoor Sports Hall among other sporting facilities in view of its advantages.

Mr Alabi who later played handball with the State Handball Team taking on Anambra State stressed that the State is determined to raise the standard of Sports and positively engaged the Youth.
