OPINION: The death of a unique Woman of Ilorin. By Oba Abdulkadir La'aro

Date: 2019-06-03

Hajia, Nana, Ayishat Nma Sulu-Gambari, mother of the Emir of Ilorin is dead.

She died today, Monday, 29th of Ramadan 1440 (3rd, June, 2019).

Her uniqueness:Through the domestication of Islamic allowance for cousins to intermarry the late Nma was able to attain all possible role a woman can occupy in the palace of the Ilorin Emirate.

A princess of the 8th of Emir of Ilorin, Abdulkadir Dan Bawa, she became wife to her cousin, Alhaji Sulukarnani Gambari, a grandson of Emir Bawa, who succeded his uncle as the 9th Emir of Ilorin. Her fortune continued its blossoming when her brother, Mallam Aliyu Baba Agba Abdulkadir became the 10th Emir of Ilorin. The consummation of that uniqueness was the enthronment of her son, the then Justice Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu-Gambari (CFR) as the 11th Emir of Ilorin.

She was an embodiment of the cultural Ilorin woman-reserved, obedient, hardworking, backbone of her husband, the reservoir of peace maker and the quint- essential mother. In all these roles, she was an exemplar per excellence.

May Allah make her a unique inmate of Aljannah firdaus.Aamin bijahi fatia alubarka
