APC condemns Gov Ahmed's 11th hour appointments

Date: 2019-05-23

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state has the highest hour appointments into vacant statutory commissions by the outgoing governor, describing it as a moral absurdity and sheer desperation of the expired political dynasty to apparently hold on to power.

The State Chairman of the party, Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa made this remarks in a statement issued by the party yesterday, stating that there i There is no urgency for filing of vacant statutory commissions.

The party condemns the outgoing crop of PDP's state legislators for the desperation to also consider siting for such screening and confirmation.

Unfortunately, while the other State Houses of Assembly are holding historical sessions, the KWHA has an immediate importance to the state.

The APC therefore views the comments by the Outgoing Speaker, Rt.Hon Ali Ahmad on the need to continue working on the last minute as a Supreme Court judgment as self-motivated rather than for public interest, which is aimed at perpetuating Saraki's continued grip on the state even after their disgraceful exit.

Conversely, the three Statutory commissions namely; the Kwara State Civil Service Commission, the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission and the State Fiscal Responsibility Commission whose Chairmen and Members are must be categorically and unequivocally condemned.

A statutory commission should not be something like a group of people trying desperately to enter Paradise. Most right thinking is that it is opposed to this hasty and urgent approach to inauguration of this issue, the last minute of this administration.

We feel that KWHA resolves to legitimize this desperation by the outgoing government. The legislative arm ought not to be part of this desperate tactic to undermine due diligence in these vacant statutory commissions.
