Group knocks Ahmed, Kwara Assembly over appointments

Date: 2019-05-11

A group, Accountable Leadership for Better Nigeria Initiative, has criticised the Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, and the House of Assembly over recent appointments by the state government.

The group, in a statement by its Executive Director, Sensitisation, Mr Remi Adebayo, described the decision of the governor to appoint individuals into key offices, barely three weeks to the end of his administration under the Peoples Democratic Party, as "booby traps" for the Governor-elect, Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman.

It also described the enactment of the law by the assembly prohibiting the state governor from tampering with local government administrations in the state and the recent appointment of a vice chancellor for the state university by Ahmed as an act of executive recklessness.

The PDP lost the March 9 governorship election in the state to the All Progressives Congress.

But ALBN said, "After a crushing defeat at the polls, where the PDP, led by Dr. Bukola Saraki, lost woefully all elective offices in the 2019 general elections, the executive and the legislature in the state are working in an unholy alliance to erect booby traps for the in-coming administration.

"The sudden appointment of an acting vice chancellor for the Kwara State University and the directive that the incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na'Allah, should proceed on terminal leave smacks of executive recklessness.
