The leading Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Aspirant in Kwara State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has felicitated with the Players, Management and Staff of Kwara United Football Club for emerging top of Lagos Center and qualifying for the Quarter-finals at the ongoing Aiteo Cup.

Ahmad described the success as one of the best things to have happened to the state's footballing club in recent years.

The governorship aspirant, while congratulating the football team in a message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir at the weekend, noted that it could not have come at a better time.

He said that it has been over 20 years Kwara United reached the former Challenge Cup competition's latter stages, stressing that it is an indication that government and the management were doing something right at the club.

Ahmad challenged the team to sustain the winning streak and eventually emerge champions of the age long competition, saying that it would undoubtedly bring smiles to the faces of Kwarans.

As the team would be filling out against Kastina United at the Semis on on Wednesday in Lagos, Ahmad has pledged to give cash donation of N250, 000 for every goal scored as part of his contributions to further encourage the state football club.

The sports loving aspirant further pledged that his administration would focus and prioritise sports development if given the PDP ticket and eventually elected as governor, as a way of reducing crimes and criminal activities among the youths.

He said that sports , especially football, has been one of the unifying factors in Kwara State, hence, if elected, his administration would strive to ensure the team thrive nationally to enable it once again participate in the Continental Football Competitions.

Ahmad also called for support from every stakeholder to ensure the team keeps progressing and doing the state proud.
