Omotosho preaches tolerance, love at Eid-el-Fitri

Date: 2018-06-15

As Muslim faithful celebrate Eid-el-Fitri festivities, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Dr Mike Omotosho, has urged Nigerians to cultivate love, peace, tolerance and charity to one another.

He regretted that some parts of the country have been ensnared in crises arising from herdsmen and farmers clashes, insurgency, kidnapping and other social vices largely due to the inability to cherish peace and love.

Dr Omotosho, in a statement issued from his media office in Ilorin, said Nigeria needs peace and tranquility to attain greater opportunities and in turn enable the citizens to unleash their potentials for the good of the nation.

The Labour Party Chairman stated that peaceful coexistence has been sacrificed on the altar of ethnic jingoism, religious leanings and political affiliations for long and should not be allowed to persist because of their negative implications on our common bond.

He maintained that Nigerians, irrespective of their political, ideological and philosophical beliefs must unite with the sole purpose of achieving Nigeria of our dream.

Dr Omotosho also tasked the citizens to take the advantage of the forthcoming 2019 general elections and obtain their permanent voter card from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so as to make informed decision on who should preside over their affairs.

The Labour Party Chairman stressed the need to entrust mandate of the people in the hands of those who have conscience and rule with utmost fear of the Almighty God.

He assured that his party has made interest of the people the cardinal policy of governance and would be willing to adhere to the guidelines faithfully.

Dr Omotosho admonished Muslim faithful to pray fervently for restoration and sustenance of peace and tranquility in troubled parts of the country, saying the nation cannot achieve greatness without peace.

The Labour Party Chairman felicitated with all Nigerians, particularly Muslim faithful on the occasion of the celebration of the festivities, which marked the end of this year's Ramadan.
