Indomie, notorious Kwara cultist, dies in mysterious circumstance

Date: 2018-05-07

A notorious cultist at Sakamo community via Niger Road of Ilorin metropolis, the Kwara State capital, simply identified as Yusuf and popularly known as Indomie, has reportedly died in mysterious circumstance.

It was gathered that the hoodlum died in the early hours of Saturday from the gunshot he allegedly fired at night guards in the area and which had mysteriously ricocheted in the process.

Indomie was said to be a leader in a cult group called Eiye Confraternity.

Sources in the community said that Indomie was sighted late in the night and trailed by guards, who suspected his movement.

It was learnt that the deceased had reportedly resurfaced from hiding after the killings of some rival cult members in some parts of Ilorin in the past.

It was also gathered that the deceased had been severally remanded on courts orders for murder and cult-related cases but usually found his way out of prison custody.

A resident of Niger Area in the metropolis, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Indomie died after the bullet he fired at the night guards, hit him back 'mysteriously.'

"We were told that he was coming from somewhere late in the night and was sighted by night-guards, who challenged him to know where he was coming from by that time.

"In the process, an argument ensued and Indomie brought out a gun and shot at the night-guards but unknown to him, the bullet returned and hit him in the chest. He died instantly at the scene.

"He was a member of a notorious cult group and had been wreaking havoc in our community. We have tried in the past to put him behind the bars. But to our surprise, after his arrest and arraignment in court, he would resurface again, that had always been the case here.

"His appearance in the community usually created fear in the people. Though, it is not like we are happy that he finally met his waterloo, people would be, at least, relieved of the fear of the unknown," he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the death of the suspected cultist, said that investigations had commenced into the incident.
