The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South Senatorial District, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun has taken a critical look at the incoming 2019 general elections and concluded that "no structure can defeat Senator Bukola Saraki's structure in the state.
He observed that it would be very difficult to defeat a structure that had been built for over 50 years.
Balogun who was speaking at the weekend during the APC stakeholders' meeting in Odo-Ogun Constituency held in Erinle, Oyun Local Government, said late Dr Olusola Saraki was very lucky to have his son succeeded his political dynasty which is uncommon among his contemporaries.
The meeting was at the instance of a member representing Odo-Ogun Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon Sikirat Anako.
The APC senatorial chairman said late Olusola Saraki was never during his life time canvassed for support for his children to succeed him after his demise but God compensated him for his selfless services to humanity.
He said meeting was organized to reaffirm to the party structures in Kwara South to be steadfast and have full confidence that no structure can defeat Bukola Saraki whose structure had been built for over 50 years.
The chairman blamed the problem which the party faced in the last local government election in some areas in the state on internal rangling among the party members, maintaining that the party had started mending its fence in preparation for 2019 general elections.
He emphasized the need for people of the constituency and the state in general to obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and vote enmass for APC to ensure the victory of the party.
He said anybody that is claiming to support the Senate President without PVC, his claim amounted to waste of time.
The chairman specifically enjoined those that had just been relocated to the state from other parts of the country to apply for transfer of their PVC to enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general elections.
While charging political office holders to always embark on empowerment programmes for the benefit of the people, he commended Hon Sikirat Anako for not disappointing the party through her qualitaive representation at the state House of Assembly.
In her remark, a member representing Odo-Ogun Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon Sikirat Anako said the roles of women in politics cannot be emphasized.
She advocated that women should be given more opportunities in political offices to justify their roles in politics.
He called on the people of the constituency to vote for APC in large number in the next general elections to ensure the victory of the party.
Also speaking, former Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Muyideen Olaniyi Alalade said the people of Oyun LG always support the Senate President and assured him of a continued support to the leadership of APC in the state.
Alalade stressed the need for all stakeholders to fully participate in the coming elections by obtaining their PVC and vote for any anointed candidates of Senator Saraki.
He said the essence of the meeting was to remember the stakeholders on the need to workhard for the victory of APC in 2019, warning them against selling their votes.
In their separate remarks, former member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Abdulrazaq Taiwo and Otunba Taiwo Afolabi described PVC as an instrument which could be used to show genuine love and loyalty to leadership of APC.
They called on the party leaders, youth and women to restrategise and redouble their efforts in preparation for 2019 elections.
The party leaders also advised INEC to place registration machine in all main towns in the council to afford people at the grassroots get registered.
