NASS urged to enact law on ban items

Date: 2018-04-02

Leadership of the National Assembly has been advised to enact a law that forbids any government to lift ban on any product that has been banned from being imported into the country such as rice.

The Olofa of Offa in Kwara State, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, made this call in his palace during an interview with newsmen, ROYAL NEWS reports.

He stated that any policy put in place by a government and is in the interest of the general public must be sustained and not be reversed.

The monarch also lamented that the greatest problem indigenous investors , industrialists and farmers are facing is lack of consistency in government policies.

Oba Gbadamosi however raised alarm that some individuals change or alter government policies due to their selfish interest and therefore challenged government to put an end to such ideas.

He further noted that during the present Muhammadu Buhari's administration, most Nigerians have gone back to the land and embarked on massive rice cultivation and other products and enjoined the Federal government not to lift ban on rice importation as Nigerians are getting use to local rice.

His words: "Masses might now feel the hardship of harsh government policies, but overtime, such difficulties would be overcome and commended the federal government for showing greater interest in agriculture and called for sustainability and improvement in that sector strewing that apart from improving the nation's economy, it would reduce unemployment."
