Baraje calls for piety, sacrifice and unity as Muslims celebrate Eid-Kabir

Date: 2017-09-01

As Muslims faithful are celebrating Eid-Kabir festival, A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje CON says the lessons of piety, sacrifice, forgiveness and unity must be imbibed to ensure united Nigeria.

Alhaji Baraje who is the Founder and Financier of Baraje Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies , Gerewu said this in a message issued from his media office in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, while felicitating with Muslims on the celebration of Eid-Kabir festival.

The APC Chieftain also stressed the need for Nigerians to refrain from corruption, religious bigotry, inter-tribal conflicts and other practices capable of eroding the peace of the country.

According to him, the peace and unity of Nigeria is sacrosanct and must be protected, cautioning those fanning the embers of disunity and war to immediately desist from it.

" If you're monitoring the unfolding events in this country, you will agree with me that what some youths from the South East, North, even South West are fighting for is uncalled for. Why will some selected or group of youth in the South East be calling or agitating for secession at this critical period that we need to strengthen our unity and plan on how to collectively develop Nigeria. What the country needs now is to strengthen its unity and not war.

The law enforcement agencies should caution perpetrators of this agitation, while there should be effective awareness campaign from the various State Ministries of Information, National Orientation Agency and NGOs on the unity and oneness of Nigeria", Baraje said.

Alhaji Baraje also charged traditional rulers and religious leaders to educate their subjects and followers on the purpose and importance of peace as preached by Prophet Mohammed .

He asked Nigerians, especially Muslims to use this period of Eid Kabir to make holiness, humility, love, and prayer as their priority.

Alhaji Baraje implored Clerics to intensify efforts in praying for the leaders, especially for President Muhammadu Buhari for an improved health so as to complete the laudable programmes of his administration.

He felicitated with Muslims on the celebration, urging them to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice by giving out foods to the poor or the needy and use the occasion as a sober reflection.
