Kwara APC Supporters Jubilate Over Saraki's Aquittal

Date: 2017-06-15

Supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State have thronged the party's secretariat, jubilating over the ruling by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) acquitting the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki.

While some were seen distributing t-shirts bearing the name of the Senate President, others could not hold back their joy as they danced to music being provided.

At the party secretariat, people started trooping in immediately after the judgement led by the members of the party executive.

Addressing journalists, the state Party Chairman, Ishola Balogun Fulani said he believed from the onset that the politically motivated trial will not succeed as it lacked substance.

He added that the judgement has reinforced the belief in the non-partisan nature of the nation's judiciary and thanked everyone for standing by the Senate President especially members of the National Assembly.

Other reactions have continued to trail the ruling by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has described the ruling as a big indictment on the Federal Government's anti-corruption drive.
