Date: 2017-03-27

The Kwara State Government views with great concern recent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state and wishes to make the following clarifications:

1. The Kwara State Government is supporting the Kwara State Police Command and other security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of the acts of violence with a view to bringing them to justice.

2. The Kwara State Government therefore calls on all parties aggrieved on account of the recent or previous clashes to remain calm, refrain from taking the law into their hands and allow the security agencies to conclude their investigations.

3. The Kwara State Government remains strongly committed to protecting lives and property in line with the constitution and the rule of law and will therefore not hesitate to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone or group found to have instigated or taken part in any acts of violence.
