Kwara Seeks Monarchs Support on School Enrollment

Mr Musa Yeketi, Kwara Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, has appealed to traditional rulers in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara to ensure enrollment of children in their domain into schools.

Yeketi made the call on Saturday in Baruten during a courtesy visit to traditional rulers after an inspection tour of schools in the area.

The commissioner commended the traditional rulers for their support toward ensuring the success of Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed's administration. He urged people in the area, particularly teachers and the elites to increase their efforts to ensure enrollment of children in schools.

The commissioner explained that such efforts should not be left to the government alone. He also appealed to the traditional rulers to use their office to rally parents to send their children to school.

Earlier, Prof. Halidu Abubakar, the Derekureku of Ilesha Baruba, commended the state government for their efforts in ensuring the education of every child. He expressed his profound gratitude to the monitoring of schools in Baruten, saying it would take education to a greater height.

The Mornarch said it was the first time a commissioner, permanent secretary and directors of the Ministry of education were visiting Baruten on monitoring exercise.

He applauded the visit, and said that the exercise would rejuvenate the education sector.

The Kporegi Avon of Okuta, Alhaji Abubakar idris commended the commissioner for the exercise and charged all stakeholders in the sector to emulate Yeketi. The Emir of Yashikira, Alhaji Umar Sariki, noted that most local government workers were idle. He suggested that qualified teachers among them should be posted to schools to teach in order to breach the deficit of teachers in the field.

Sarki further commended the administration for the recent approval of more nomadic schools in Yashikira district.
