Date: 2012-07-27

The National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), national headquarters, has urged Nigerians to be their brothers' keeper at all times in the spirit of ongoing Ramadan fasting.

NAKSS, in a statement signed by its president, Comrade Bamigboye Azeez Lekan advised Muslims to let the impact and lessons of Ramadan reflect in their day-to-day activities, even after the holy month.

It noted that Ramadan should be a reminder to people of all faiths of common humanity and commitment to justice shared by all faiths.

According to the statement, "NAKSS, in its objectives to inculcate good moral values preaching against illicit use of drugs, examination malpractices, indecent dressing, cultivating habit of good representation, urged Muslims to be their brothers' keeper and let the impact the holy month reflect on the subsequent months".

The association particularly implored Muslim youths to avoid acts that could dent their image and that of Islam.

It used the medium to laud Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for creating a new minstry for tertiary education to oversee the affairs of tertiary institutions in the state.

NAKSS said the step would be bring about the quick realization of the government desired plan at ensuring rapid growth and development of tertiary institutions in the state.
