Kaiama LG boss begs FG on Kaiama-Kishi road

Date: 2012-07-26

Chairman of the Kaiama Local Government in Kwara State, Alhaji Abubakar Sidiq, has appealed to the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Kaiama-Kishi road.

He said that the road, which links communities in Kwara and Oyo states, would contribute significantly to the economic development of the area.

Sidiq, who made the call in Kaiama in an interview with newsmen, described the present state of the road as deplorable, saying "it is now a death trap".

He said commuters using the road had to contend with potholes and difficult terrain "which usually makes plying the road a nightmare".

The chairman said there were cases of attacks by armed robbers as a result of the bad condition of the 50-kilometer road.

Sidiq said the rehabilitaion of the road would assist farmers in the two states to transport their farm produce to markets in urban centers.

"There is the tendency that the construction of this road will attract more investors to both Kwara and Oyo states", he added..
