Hope rises for aggressive development in Kwara - Gov Ahmed
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has assured Kwarans of speeding development. Governor Ahmed made this known at a monthly stakeholders meeting with Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress held at the State Banquet Hall in Ilorin.
He said he had gotten approval from Federal Government to access to bond apply for while reacting to the rumor that Kwara State Government has accessed the bond.
He explained that government could now go to capital market for the accessment of the bond, stressing that the bond would be utilised for outlined projects to enhance socioeconomic growth of the state.
He stated that 174 wards across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state had submitted their proposal for community development projects, urging the state residents to be calm as the dividends of democracy would soon spread to their door-steps.
Speaking on this year local government election in the state, the governor called on the APC members to brace up for the exercise to ensure the success of the party in the poll.
He also warned cultists and other criminals to vacate the state or face the full wrath of the law, hinted that an executive bill before the state House of Assembly proposed between 10 and 14 year jail term for anyone found guilty of cult-related offences.
He added that any building and property harbouring such cultists would also be confiscated by the state government. Governor Ahmed however advised parents and guardians to take proper care of their wards as the state government would ensure that those found guilty of disrupting peace and harmony which the state was known for would face the full wrath of the law.
Speaking on the ongoing workers' verification exercise, the governor stated that the exercise would ensure prompt payment of workers' salaries and pave way for the engagement of unemployed youths in the state.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Usman Bibire-Ajape, said the monthly meeting was to interface and keep members of the APC abreast of political development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
