The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the rerun of the House of Assembly in Oloje and Alanamu wards of Ilorin West-North constituency of Kwara State.

Candidate of the party in the rerun, Abdulfatah Babakini, who was declared winner, scored 25,708 votes, while Kayode Aiyelabegan of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) polled 15,759 votes.

Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) scored 3,698 votes; Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), 730 votes, while the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 227 votes.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Director of Public Affairs of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Jacob Ayanda, said Babakini was declared winner, having scored the highest total votes cast.

Reacting to the victory, the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the victory was not just an overwhelming vote of confidence in the government and leadership of the PDP in the state, but a challenge to do more for the people of the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the governor said the endorsement of the purposeful leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki and the implementation of his administation's programme were responsible for the victory in the election.

He assured the people of the resolve of his administration to continue to deliver purposeful leadership by building on the successes of the last eight years.
