Kwara Suspends Employments Over Alleged Discovery of Ghost Workers

The Kwara State government yesterday said that recruitment of staff in local government areas and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been suspended following alleged discovery of ghost workers in the 16 local government areas of the state.

The state's Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammad Bawa said the discovery was made by an independent consultancy firm engaged by the state government to look into its workforce.

The commissioner, who addressed journalists yesterday, said there is need to sanitize the employment system in the state.

He lamented that blind and under-aged persons have been collecting salaries from the local government without working.
