Made in Nigeria Automotive Batteries Debut Market

Date: 2015-11-10

Locally assembled automotive batteries have been released into the market to serve Nigeria motorists and companies that use batteries for their works.

Forgo battery factory in Kwara State produced the batteries and was commissioned by the Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfattah Ahmed who promised that henceforth all the government vehicles in the state will be running on the Forgo ?batteries.

Speaking during the opening of the factory, Managing Director of Forgo Battery Co. Ltd, Mr. Joseph Alex Offorjama, said he was motivated to site the factory in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital because of the recent policies of the federal government which is replicated in the state that encouraged investment in various sectors.

Offorjama who lamented over the preference of Nigerians for imported products even though they are inferior to the ones produced here said it was due to the challenge that only one company assembles the battery in Nigeria.

"There had been very ugly tales concerning many moribund battery assemblers in Nigeria which have been closed down as a result of many operational and policy challenges because before the introduction of our own battery to the market, the only automotive battery assembler in Nigeria is not being patronised," Offoejama said.

He added that the company was prepared to offer quality products capable to power modern automobiles with its increased electronic features. and security tracking systems including other machinery and equipment.
