Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ahmad Ali, has described the death of Mrs. H.I.D. Awolowo as a monumental loss to the nation.

A statement by the Media Special Assistant to the Speaker, Abdulrahman Sanni in Ilorin yesterday said "Mama, as she was fondly called, died at a time the nation undergoing structural change, needed her most."

Ali also described the death as the end of a glorious era, pointing out that she passed on to the great beyond when the nation would need to tap her wisdom in translating its change mantra into reality to better the lots of the people.

He urged the Awolowo family to take solace in that she lived a fruitful life that would continue to be a point of reference for generations yet unborn.

The Speaker condoled the Yoruba race, Awolowo family the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, as well as government and people of Ogun State over the death and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the colossal loss and wished the deceased an eternal rest.
