Kwara NUJ, RATTAWU plead for action on salaries

Date: 2015-09-17

An appeal has again gone to the Kwara State government to redeem its pledge of paying all outstanding salaries owed staff of state owned media outfits and the Council for Arts and Culture.

The appeal was contained in a communique issued in Ilorin at the end of an emergency joint meeting of the state leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) yesterday.

RATTAWU and NUJ in the communique signed by their chairmen, Comrade AbdulYekeen Gesua and Comrade Abiodun AbdulKareem and their Secretaries, Comrade Olatunji Sherifat and Comrade Babatunde Jimba respectively, charged government to prioritize issues on welfare of staff of the affected organisations, saying the sensitive nature of their jobs deserves concern.

They said delay in the payment of monthly subvention to the organisations was inhibiting their progress.
