Lawyer donates educational materials to communities in Kwara
A Lagos-based legal practitioner and an indigene of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Chief Oladepo Aborisade, has presented educational materials worth N700,000 to pupils and students in primary and secondary schools in Etan and Oke Opin towns in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking during the presentation of the materials, Chief Aborisade said over 18,000 exercise books were donated to 3,000 pupils, adding that each student collected six exercise books.
"Whatever level of education one attains in life starts from somewhere. That is primary education. The standard of education at the formative years will certainly affect the standard of education one acquired in the higher levels. That is why there should be qualitative education at the foundation level," he said.
Aborisade, who said education is the bedrock upon which the future foundation of any town, state and or federation is built, added that any community or government that failed to invest on the education of her citizenry will not only breed vagabonds but will eventually go into extinction.
"My primary aim of investing and donating these educational materials to the future leaders of our community and state is borne out of the fact that I appreciate and applaud the state government's policy on education under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and the need for me to encourage the governor to be able to do more for our people in view of the meager federal allocation accruable to our dear state being a non-oil producing State."
He also called on well-meaning indigenes of the state both at home and abroad to use their God-given resources to give back to the society that produced them and also complement the state government's effort to develop Kwara State.
He also expressed desire to extend the educational materials to all schools in Ekiti Local Government in the nearest future.
