The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Kwara Central senatorial election, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq, has closed his case in a petition filed against Senator Bukola Saraki of All Progressive Congress (APC).

Abdulrasaq in a petition marked NAT/LEG/EPT/IL/2/2015 filed before the tribunal sitting in Ilorin is challenging Saraki's victory in the March 28 polls.

At the resumption of hearing on Monday, petitioner's counsel, Francis Obumse closed his case, giving way to respondents' counsel to open defence.

The petitioner, his aide, Mr Oloyin Adebayo, a forensic analyst, Mrs Nkolly Asika Obumse and state INEC Head of Legal Team, Tunde Salako, all testified before the tribunal.

Two additional exhibits including stubs/counterfeits of used ballot papers in respect of senatorial election in Kwara Central and unused ballot were admitted at the Monday hearing.

Saraki's counsel, Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) opened and closed his defence without calling any witness. But the second respondents' counsel, Abdulwahab Bamidele, requested a short adjournment to enable them call their witnesses.

Justice Josiah Majebi-led three-man tribunal adjourned the matter till today. The tribunal will also on Thursday rule on a motion seeking to call more witnesses in a case filed against the election of Princess Olufunke Adedoyin of the APC, as member of the House of Representatives.

The petition was filed by the PDP candidate in the election, Richard Babatunde Olusola.
