NAHCON Warns Pilgrims Against Political Gathering In Saudi
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Sunday warned intending pilgrims from the country to Saudi Arabia for this year's Hajj exercise against any political gathering and non Hajj related activities while in the holy land. NAHCON chairman, Barr. Abdullahi Mukhtar handed down the warning at a sensitization seminar for this year's intending pilgrims from kwara state, organized by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Mukhtar who was represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Suleiman Usman, noted that Saudi Arabia frowned at any form of gathering, hence the need for the intending pilgrims to have clear intention that they are going to Hajj solely to serve Allah.
He added that Saudi Arabia authorities had intensified efforts to rid their country of illegal immigrants and urged state officials to monitor their pilgrims properly to avoid the humiliation that would follow as a result of abscondment. Mukhtar appealed to State Pilgrims Welfare Boards to ensure that the pilgrims collect their Basic Traveling Allowance on time and warned the intending pilgrims against acquisition of materials in Saudi Arabia.
In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, who is the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinla, urged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and Kwara state by adhering strictly to Saudi Arabia new rules and regulations.
Speaking with newsmen, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Hajia Fatimah Abolore Jimoh, disclosed that the E-track system adopted by the Commission came with several innovati
ons in the hajj exercise and helped in facilitating the hajj exercise process.
