MURIC tackles Fani-Kayode over Boko Haram comments

Date: 2015-07-09

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the assisting states with financial lifelines to settle outstanding months of unpaid salaries to workers. The director of the organisation Prof. Ishaq Akintola said this in a statement yesterday. He also condemned statements credited to a former aviation minister and spokesperson of former President Goodluck Jonathan's campaign organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who reportedly said Nigerians asked for the recent upsurge in Boko Haram attacks by refusing to renew Jonathan's mandate. The former minister has however denied the comment.

The MURIC boss said it was cold-blooded, and nothing short of a manifestation of extreme wickedness and infantile vituperations.

"We are stupefied that at a time when innocent Nigerians are being mowed down in large numbers, Jonathan's messenger is singing Halleluyah! At a time when emergency workers are calling on volunteers to donate blood in order to save the lives of injured Nigerians, Fani-Kayode is singing songs of victory.

"At a time mothers are crying, orphans wailing and widows are sobbing, an ex-minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is dancing makosa. It is the highest point of sadism and the lowest level of normal human behavior," Akintola said.

On bailout, he said "contrary to what some mischievous elements want us to believe, the bankruptcy syndrome took the driver's seat in about 12 states, not just one. Among the states affected are Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Ondo, Plateau, Benue, Osun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Oyo and Bauchi states," he said.

He said the states would not have been dragged into the financial crisis if Jonathan had been prudent with the country's funds.
