NAFDAC bans dry gin production in Kwara

Date: 2015-07-08

The National Agency for Food, drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has banned the sale, consumption and production of dry gin, known as Basooka in Kwara State. NAFDAC coordinator in the state, Mrs Juliana Abayomi, said the agency discovered the production of the gin under unhygienic condition at a warehouse.

The coordinator said the agency was embarking on a mop up exercise.

"Our mop up activities and visit to places like markets, motor parks and production centres would be redoubled to ensure that Kwara is free of unhygienic products," she said, and advised residents of the state to always look out for NAFDAC number on products before they purchase them.
