PDP boasts: Defected governors, others return soon
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said some of its members including governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon return to the party.
A top party official told our correspondent in Abuja that some of the governors who defected in 2013 at the peak of the party's crisis have commenced talks with the PDP following developments in the polity.
The source said one of the governors who defected to the APC have expressed desperation and shock at the way things are going on in the APC, saying it is a disturbing scenario.
According to him, some of the defected governors said they were promised high political offices including office of the vice president while the position was later given to Osinbajo without considering them.
He said this is bound to cause crisis within the APC in such a manner that some of the APC members will dump the APC for the PDP including the party's former governors.
The five PDP governors who defected to the APC in 2013 are Governors Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto).
He said: "the emergence of the new National Assembly leadership has saved the country. It is victory for democracy" but stressed that the "APC is a private property" and not a truly national party.
"With time, our ranks will swell. Politics is all about conspiracy. One group will conspire and the other will also conspire so at the end of the day, the group which conspired most will defeat the other," he said.
