North Central APC Chairmen Hail Buhari Over Saraki's Election
The chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five states of the North- Central zone have advised the National Working Committee (NWC) to toe the line of President Muhammadu Buhari on the election of the leadership of the national assembly.
The APC states chairmen at the end of their meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with Buhari's disposition to the election of Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Speaker of the house of Representatives.
They described Buhari as a statesman whose only interest was impacting positive change on the lives of Nigerians and urged APC NWC members to emulate him. In a statement signed by their coordinator and chairman of APC in Kogi state,Mr Haddi Ameto, the chairmen congratulated the newly-elected Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki .
They described Saraki's election as victory for democracy, adding that "we recall that we had unanimously endorsed the candidacy of senator representing Kwara Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, Dr. Bukola Saraki, for the position of President of the Senate.
The APC state chairmen of Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger states said,"we are indeed delighted that Senator Saraki who has unprecedented commitment to the growth and success of the party at all levels in the zone and across the country has emerged as the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"We wish Senate President Saraki a smooth, fruitful, rewarding and successful tenure as he presides over the Senate for the next four years".
?They urged Saraki to immediate mobilise the Senate to support the developmental programmes of President Muhammadu ?Buhari and ensure the stability and progress of the country.
They thanked all Senators and APC members across the country for their support for Saraki and the North-Central zone.
